Baby firsts

Share with strangers

Yesterday was a lot of firsts for baby. He hopped on the train for the first time & was startled by the rocking.  We visited the Exploratorium at pier 15! Most exhibits went over Eggsy’s head, literally. He was marginally amused by lights & color. Mostly, we visited the restrooms & sat where we could.    Rocking chairs along a corridor are fit for a nursing baby. Only thrice attempts to feed baby were futile. …

Rise & shine

Today baby woke up like a little ball of energy. Ever curious, he is a super crawler now.  I too am super. I ate at Lam’s last night twice. Once for take out of roast duck, salt & pepper spareribs, & veg.   Long lines for the BBQ as usual. Some home steak too. That dark patch on the lower right. All tasty. Baby likes duck.  After dinner, uncle Gordy called me up to eat…

Oodles of noodles

Been on a pasta kick lately. A Sunday venture to the land of family friendly Olive Garden proved that the stroller-accommodating restaurant is fit for babies of all sizes.  I didn’t even know they had a kids menu. Before I didn’t care about stuff like that. Now I’m like, oh baby can have his own pasta! Soon.  HB had the seafood pasta. Good. The breadsticks, salad & soup filled us up a bit too much…

Parks & Rec

Park Chalet by ocean beach was mad packed this afternoon. We tried to swoop outdoor seating but due to the overwhelming crowd, we set up shop on their lawn, along with other various families, friends, their babies & dogs.  After ordering at the bar, we tried to make it worth our wait.  We got the burger, ahi sandwich, truffle mac & cheese, ceviche, fish & chips, & Tuscan kale salad.  A delightful meal enjoyed with…

The big deal

Happy birthday Jase!

Happy birthday to Jason who turns 31 this Tuesday!     For us, it means crab! At PPQ, we feast on roasted crabs & peppercorn crab. Of course he has so many friends, he needs two tables to hold us all! The peppercorn crab was the standout star. I suspect because it is fried, it retains the hot, hot heat so it is cracklelacking steamy fresh.  The garlic noodles are always chewy, buttery goodness. We…

Clarity

Admittedly, I’ve been a bit bummed over missing our trip. Our family & friends are enjoying a reunion & a wedding this weekend.  Still, we’re having fun at home. On a lovely walk yesterday, Eggsy & I shared frozen yogurt. Well, I had the fro yo & he had a first few bites of strawberry.   Easy Breezy had mango lassi yogurt, which I swirled with the plain flavor to mellow out the sweetness.  My…

Canada hates babies

Okay maybe hate is a strong word.  Today we got up at 3am to catch our 6:30am flight to Vancouver to discover the information from the U.S. Dept of State stating babies can travel to & from Canada with a birth certificate, sans passport, is misleading.  The Canadian consulate begs to differ. Baby & I didn’t get on board but instead shuttled our packed bags, car seat, & stroller home.   Eggsy was in a…

Gratitude

Sweetness

Pulling Eggsy’s size four diapers to investigate if they fit his almost 19 pound frame, I am overcome with a feeling of gratitude.  The space to choose a size for your baby’s diapering needs, buy more if needed or desired is a gift. We recently went diaper crazy & ordered what we hoped to be all or most of the rest of baby’s diapers for the rest of his diapering career. This is clearly a…

And then she’s gone

Little sister flew the nest yesterday. Selfishly, I am sad to see her go but thrilled for her new life among the Space Needle.  The night before she left, I tried to coax her into having dinner but to avail. Without her, we had King of Noodle where baby had his first taste of hand pulled noodles.   The chewy consistency gave his gums something to naw on. Of course dumplings are a must.  …

Soul sisters

Preparing for Smity to take flight, I joined sister & Princess Ariana at their dinner at Brenda’s.  Soul food is just that: for the soul. The crawfish beignets were as delicious as I remembered. What I forgot was how sizable they were. Like a savory donut stuffed with cheese & crawfish.     Luckily the girls are into sharing so we had the ribs with mac & cheese.   Their special of spicy pasta with…
