Mediocre sushi

8 Sushi. What has become of you? Once such a delight found on Skyline boulevard, now is not that impressive.   But it is cheap.  They have a menu where if you order $10 per person, you have access to $2 oysters, cheap rolls, & other goodies.   Not bad, not great.   Our rainbow roll. Five bucks. Feels & tastes like a bargain.   Our bento: gyoza,  agedashi tofu, & beef short ribs. Star…

Noodle territory

Calm & I attempted to get King of Thai but instead found The Noodle Shop on Sloat at the Lakeshore Plaza.  Eerily quiet, the noodles we discovered, with a strikely similar menu to its King kindred, were satisfactory.   My vegetarian flat rice noodles was choke full of veggies & tofu. Just want I needed. Soup was a touch bland but Mr. Pepper helped out.  Calm’s spicy beef broth looked way more inticing than mine.…

Poke now

In a desperate frenzy for some poke, our local Safeway has some spicy ahi, waiting to be consumed.  Baby is growing like crazy. Getting to be a tall lil fella. In an attempt to balance my ferocious appetite for junk food, I had a salad. This delightful kale salad from Costco is a favorite. The dressing is oh-so-yummy. I added pecans for extra oomph.  Thank you baby for reminding me that…

My little darling

Cutest baby award

After viewing all the contestants, I am proud to announce my baby won the Cutest Baby Award! Sure this wasn’t a real contest & I only considered my own baby, but he won nonetheless.  He is so charming. Yesterday during tummy time, he just sweetly smiled as he practicing “high-ups”. Lifting his head up is hard work! He makes it look easy. This is definitely the most supremely sweetest thing that has ever…

Manic Tuesday

Two medical appointments later, baby & I are famished. (What’s new?) Luckily a new Panera Bread has popped up near Masonic & it’s perfect for us.  Our steak & white cheddar panini is so good, we have to bring one home too.  The brocoli cheddar soup was on point. I love my soup. Big chucks of brocoli! I was jammin’ up & down the hill to & from the doc’s. Man, I was…

After school snack

Picked up Coach Smity after work today & got to have an after school snack at Joo Mak. The bibimbap was good & warmed us as a light sprinkle fell on us outside.  The seafood pancake is the best I’ve discovered in the city. Crisp & filled with seafood; this is a special food.  Our sushi platter featured the Sam Francisco roll, philly, rock & roll, & a mystery roll that I ate but…

Sunday KBBQ

We’re so fortunate for our friends who know how to do KBBQ right. Thanks A&R for feeding us so well.  A sleepy Sunday brought us to Philz coffee for, of course, their mint mojito iced coffee. The sweet foamy coffee hits the spot.   Thanks Mr. & Mrs. H for the special lucky money. Baby is so delighted & grateful.   The mushrooms, pork, beef tongue, optopus & beyond were yummy & filled our…

We have a bet

This is for you, ST.  Tried Kobe Sake in Millbrae because our 9:30 p.m. res at Amami wasn’t ready for another thirty.  So we like try Kobe.  A wonderful surprise with local flavor, brah.  First (& importantly), they have a sense a humor. The BIG ASS BENTO is their four item bento. Naturally, we get tempura, tonkatsu, sashimi, & teriyaki salmon. Dynamite roll was aptly named. Saucy. My last bite dropped in…

Baby firsts

Waterworld

Baby’s first visit to the aquarium!  Not sure he saw too much but I’m sure it was his first live fish sighting. Unclear how he felt about it. Currently napping so questions will have to wait until later.  The best things seen were definitely the giant octopus.  Its beauty and fluidity is unmatched. Octopus is also tasty. Only this one is the size of a car.  The jellies at Monterey Bay Aquarium are killer. They…

Seaside

Baby’s first trip. He tolerated the car ride like a boss.  I snuck away and took a swim while baby was napping in the telly. My first post pregnancy swim. Feeling good.  I even went and got nachos & baby didn’t even notice I was gone.  Luckily auntie watched baby so we could explore seaside dining options.  A canceled Bistro Moulin reservation later, we end up at Cibo, an Italian eatery boasting art & live…
