Poke now

In a desperate frenzy for some poke, our local Safeway has some spicy ahi, waiting to be consumed.  Baby is growing like crazy. Getting to be a tall lil fella. In an attempt to balance my ferocious appetite for junk food, I had a salad. This delightful kale salad from Costco is a favorite. The dressing is oh-so-yummy. I added pecans for extra oomph.  Thank you baby for reminding me that…

After school snack

Picked up Coach Smity after work today & got to have an after school snack at Joo Mak. The bibimbap was good & warmed us as a light sprinkle fell on us outside.  The seafood pancake is the best I’ve discovered in the city. Crisp & filled with seafood; this is a special food.  Our sushi platter featured the Sam Francisco roll, philly, rock & roll, & a mystery roll that I ate but…

We have a bet

This is for you, ST.  Tried Kobe Sake in Millbrae because our 9:30 p.m. res at Amami wasn’t ready for another thirty.  So we like try Kobe.  A wonderful surprise with local flavor, brah.  First (& importantly), they have a sense a humor. The BIG ASS BENTO is their four item bento. Naturally, we get tempura, tonkatsu, sashimi, & teriyaki salmon. Dynamite roll was aptly named. Saucy. My last bite dropped in…

Seaside

Baby’s first trip. He tolerated the car ride like a boss.  I snuck away and took a swim while baby was napping in the telly. My first post pregnancy swim. Feeling good.  I even went and got nachos & baby didn’t even notice I was gone.  Luckily auntie watched baby so we could explore seaside dining options.  A canceled Bistro Moulin reservation later, we end up at Cibo, an Italian eatery boasting art & live…

Fancy pork & cupcakes

Emmy got to spend some time with baby tonight & she did a fine job.   We snuck away for some quick eats at Lam’s. The steam rice noodle with fancy & shredded pork with egg roll came in a huge portion. Perfect for a few not so hungry ladies.   The pork belly was our protein & it was well seasoned, filling our bellies with belly. HB’s beef stew noodles had a soup…

Double lunch

This is my favorite way to eat a meal. Eating double or triple times for the same time slot. It is genius & it is fun.  First up is Indian. Trying Five Rivers Indian Cuisine at Westlake, I discover their goat curry is grreeat. It is spicy & meaty. The rice & naan are good. My Bay Area Indian go-to is Naan-N-Curry so I know I’m hurting to expand my Indian cuisine repertoire. …

Goodbye Burma. Hello Chick-fil-A

This spicy chicken deluxe sandwich made my day.  The new Fremont location knows what’s up.  In sending our friend Kelvin off, we stumbled upon this wonderful establishment.  Always do spicy chicken. Always do deluxe. It’s like a hotel. Deluxe accommodations, amirite? This was baby’s first real BBQ outing; he did great. I was a nervous new mommy about the sun, smoke & other pollutants but I think we did great.  Soon I’ll be brave…

Prince’s favorite

Since baby likes it here so much, we are back at Prince’s Cooking.  This time we got to try their salmon, baked chicken stuffed with avocado, some potato crispies, & their spaghetti.  The salmon was cooked well & fresh. The chicken, on the other hand, was a bit dry & just a tiny little thing. The other chicken dishes tried at our table (not pictured), teriyaki & curry style were moist & didn’t…

Family dinner

Chinese again. Our family doesn’t mind because we are all happy. Sweet & sour pork, a childhood favorite.  Happily munching away on pork belly. We love fat. Next comes the chicken. It’s served chilled with a ginger sauce. Let’s not forget the veggies! My family knows I always want us eating veggies. Good for you & tasty too! A speedy meal but a good one. Thanks family. You drive me crazy sometimes but the…

Sushi Sunday

Yum Yum Fish is well named.  My favorite is their Philly roll because their salmon is on the outside. That means more fish for you! The spicy trio: salmon, tuna & scallop. Nigiri belly in our bellies. Baby didn’t not seem impressed with our fish array for he was rather grouchy throughout our meal. It’s okay; it tasted fresh & wonderful regardless.  Oh philly roll, how I cherish your sweet little salmon…
