New mom stuff

The time has come

Cold choy. It’s time for me to stop reheating my food and just admit that a lot of meals will just have to be consumed cold.  Baby has a strangely accurate radar that tells him when mom’s about to have some food.  That precise second is when he also needs to eat or changed.  A good friend told me there’s a saying in India that a baby knows when mom is about to take care…

Do the boppy

Guess what genius maneuver I figured out? Feeding baby while feeding myself while finding a new dentist.  Yeah, I’m that good.  Boppy, the magical breastfeeding pillow helps to facilitate this.  While baby was perched on my lap, Boppy held him in hortizonal position as my left arm made sure he didn’t slip away.  With my right hand, I’m able to snack, type, dial, & other hand-required activities.  Utilize all the support you’ve got. I mean,…

Mom, you eat weird things

Baby will be starting solids soon. Well, maybe the category is more “mushy.” Today at home, I was enjoying my baby’s smiles & laughs. There was a lot of this.  He woke up all cheery & was basically rooting for the home team (Go Giants!); he was so enthusiastic.  He tolerated my photos and even understood as I took pictures of his grandmother’s pig’s feet dishes.  Yes, dishes. I ate pig’s feet two ways for…

Koreatown

A tasty late lunch with Calmsy at Dae Jang Geum Tofu House in Daly City. Bibimbap for me; dumpling tofu soup for Calm. Love the little side dishes, especially the japchae (sweet potato noodles). What we didn’t know is that this filling meal would land us at McDonalds in a couple of hours. They don’t have chicken Mcnuggets & apple pies at tofu places, you know.

Happy twelve

Baby is a thrilling twelve weeks today! As with twelve week tradition, mom took his picture to document his cuteness at this fine accomplishment. Going to grandma’s house to celebrate baby’s milestone. Baby can now hold his head up for four minutes at a time during tummy time. He can roll from side to side (& all the way around, if we’re not careful!). He coos & ahhs. Wakes up smiling & laughing. Doesn’t usually…

Contribution cereal

This may look like an ordinary bowl of cereal but it’s not. Let me tell you why. It’s the cumulation of various contributors to a shared cause: keeping me fed. My sister brought the multigrain Cheerios. (Thanks for sharing your stash, Miss M!) My mom gave me sesame seeds to add to my foods for added oomph. My dad gave me honey roasted almond slices, also for oomph factor. HB brought the soy milk home…

Tea time

Welcome to my favorite San Franciscan dessert spot. Creations has a wide menu of snacks, sweets & drinks. Today I’m here for a substantial snack so I load up on their ham & egg sandwich, chicken wings, mango mochi, homemade coconut ice cream with more mochi, fresh fruit, eggettes, & lemon tea. That’s my post-lunch/pre-dinner snack. I know, I’m kind of a boss. Baby just looks on in bewilderment. I think he’s proud of me.…

Bedridden dumpling

My baby needs to feed so often, that getting out of bed is sometimes pointless. Good thing I have leftover dim sum that I eat out of the take out container in between feeds. Luckily I did some chores to feel accomplished today. I have my sights set on cleaning the top of my dresser, so I can feel like this was a productive Monday. Baby, however, has other plans. He insists on back-to-back feedings…

Green smiles

Taking a stroll around Golden Gate Park as baby sleeps through the green scenery. Of course my endgame is a snack. I like to get the wheat spinach square at Starbucks as often as possible. It’s a buttery croissant square that is the perfect mid-walk snack. Even if the walk is just to get one. Today they are out so the second best is the ham & cheese square. The passion ice tea is a…
