Epic adventure

A happy dim sum brunch with family today. Baby was a little gem, as always. First a walk around Cliffhouse, to let baby soak in some rays. Through the shield and comfort of his stroller, of course. Here he is, a happy little clam.  Of the dim sum highlights are the beef organs which we all cheered for in unison. The tripe was a tad overdone, but nothing to gripe about. I…

Thai burger

Just kidding, it’s just a burger & thai food, separately.  In & Out. The usual dream. Delightful. Kind sister shared our strawberry milkshake with someone who seemed to want it more.  The fries are best steaming hot.  The proximity of burger to doughnut is well thought out. Krispy Kreme doughnut holes for the win. Baby patiently waited while mom scarfed. Later, we enjoyed some thai food at Narin in Burlingame. A nice &…

Fast eats

The world of the quick and easy. Drive thrus are perfect for babies because you don’t have to take them out to nourish yourself.  If you can call McDonalds nourishment.  The splendid Fish filet. I don’t usually eat burgers at Mickey Ds, but I thoroughly enjoyed this fish filet.  The box said the white fish is responsibly sourced. This makes me feel slightly better about my quick snack.  15 grams of protein for the little…

Out of the woods

A moment today I couldn’t help but to think that I’m finally out of the woods. The newborn stage: no sleep, feeding around the clock with a tender little baby thing.  He’s cleared the newborn stage for some time now but today was a clear reckoning of that realization.  He has sturdiness to him. Toughness too, even.  The messages marketed for little boys exemplifies this: blue, tough, mud. All this is okay with me… As…

Hell’s kitchen

I’m not talking about you Pieology. You were a godsend.  An accidental visit to Pieology, the self-proclaimed study of custom pizza, in Daly City was a delight to the senses.  A pizza pie, fully customizable with unlimited toppings. Of course, my pie is fully loaded.  I do not understand why anyone would have a pie any different than this one. Unlimited, people! Mine has like six layers with an Alfredo sauce base. Heavy on the…

The journey is everything

A blessed day in wine country. Baby’s first time in Napa. A brunch at The Pear with beautiful, charming ladies.  My croque madame on Model bakery bread was delicious. My mom’s prime rib hash was truly a gem. Large chunks of meat with hearty veggies made for a filling breakfast.  Little sister’s chicken & waffle was tasty, with the skin removed & fried. Crisp & juicy. The lovely Mrs. Cordero had an omelette…

Big advancements

Congrats to Miss Delfin on her hard earned advancement at work! Well deserved and deserving to be celebrated.  Also congrats to Miss Banh on getting into law school. It ain’t fun but it sure is one hell of a ride.  These women work hard for what they have. Hard earned & deserving. Credit: Hans Wisdom That is the beauty of discipline; it is invisible. Cheers to the women who work hard with grace…

Chinese finger trap

That is the grip of my baby. Equivalent to a Chinese finger trap; constricts upon your resistance.  A visit to Smile cafe on Taraval put a smile on our face. Their Korean seafood pancake is most definitely deep fried. A nice changed to its usual pan fried preparation. The oxtail in wine sauce is good here. We get it often. Baby likes their original yogurt drink. Quite hungry today, we…

Home call

Cruising at home today. Baby loves to hang with his buds: sir giraffe, explorer ball, Rudolph, & the others.   Getting more & more curious, he is.  Eating mom’s food today too. A special jook with extra preserved egg & bamboo shoots. Some sugar snap peas for some crunch. It was a hot one in the city today. The weekend is going to be a burn too! Baby’s not drinking water yet but…

Another day in paradise

Welcoming another warm day in Californian paradise.  Amist worry about my stay-at-mom choice, we brunch at Crepevine in Burlingame. The herb infused crepe with eggplant, feta, tomatoes, spinach & cheese puts a halt to my worries.  Such a life altering choice: whether to stay at home or to go back to work. Either one is heavy with relief & consequence. I must trust I will make the right decisions for myself & my family.  Later,…
