Romy and Michelle

Eggsy finally meets Auntie Romy! He was completely and utterly in awe. I’m not sure he’s seen lipstick before. Up close, anyways.  He liked it.  A very special treat today with Romy & her bountiful La Boulange gems.   The pastries look like a face. Quiche eyes: mushroom (left) & ham. The “mouth” was a ratatouille pastry. I love butter so I loved all of this.  A sweet finish of a lovely berry tart.  …

Breakfast of Champions

Normie

Sound the alarms! Let the whole village know!  Eggsy is back to normal! Fever be gone! A healing visit with grandma has cured him!   Here is Eggsy basking in his morning nap. His life is all about napping & snacking. He’s basically living my dream.  My breakfast sandwich from evol. is a chicken apple sausage with egg white & cheddar on a multigrain flatbread. If that sounds healthy, it is. Halfway through I knew something…

Noms

Trouble

Poor little Eggsy woke up feverish. Feverish enough to warrant worry; not feverish enough to warrant medicine or a visit to his ped.  After a diaper change & before he got a new shirt, Eggsy tried on his dad’s tie.   Eggsy is a little skeptical about the workforce. He is particularly shocked by the U.S. & its failure to take care of working families. Oh wait, that’s me.  After a visit to Tani’s Kitchen in…

Baby firsts

Usin that noggin

Eggsy fed himself with a spoon today. He is five months & four days old.  Babies don’t do this until after their first birthday. Allegedly.  First for straight avo, too. Hold the breastmilk mom. I got this. (The impression Eggsy gave me.) I wonder what else this kid can do. I want him to go to Xaiver’s School for Gifted Youngsters. But he’s not an X-Men; he’s more like a pre-man.    Eggsy looks like he’s…

Lucky goose

Eggsy and I are a lucky couple of geese.  Learned about solids and other baby eating type things at a class this morning. Take aways: Sippy cups were designed for the convenience of parents not for what baby needs. Straight to straw & open cups, per the ortho’s orders.  Babies can basically eat anything except for a certain number of things like high Mercury fish & honey (no hunny until one year old). Certain foods are…

Insomnia

2:30 a.m. and I have already snacked, folded the laundry, visited the bathroom several times & sorted through Eggsy’s clothes to pick out the too-small 0-3 month old ones.  Both baby daddy & Eggsy snore.  Earlier Eggsy sleepily wrapped his hand around mine. It was a sheer delight.  We have a 10 a.m. class about feeding solids to attend in the morning & it feels like the first day of class.  Nervous first time mommy?…

My little darling

Eggsy

Due to my child’s perfectly egg shaped head, I will refer to him here as Eggsy.  Also I watched the Kingsmen recently.  A nice day cruising at home to catch up on our domestic duties. Laundering for the young and adults in our home.  A healthy snack consisted of tuna salad in avocado.     Eggsy likes avocado. This is perhaps his third solid. Mixed in a breastmilk cocktail, he enjoyed some last night &…

The big deal

Champagne Sunday

Look at the butterscotch pot de creme. Cliffhouse’s champagne brunch buffet is gorgeous & delicious.  My charming sister took us to a fanciful feast for brunch where we dined, drank (not much) & dined some more.  Here is plate one of many:  My attempt to take photos of the actual buffet was shot down given the number of other hungry buffet goers. C’est la vie.  Baby did great occilating between the arms of dad, mom,…

Baby firsts

Happy five

The start of a fabulous eating career. Baby did great in his first official solid food: oatmeal. Though mixed with breastmilk & quite runny, this still constitutes as his first “solid.”   Kid did great in his Bumbo chair & exceeded my expectations on how much he would eat. I made a small portion to start, heeding his ped’s warning of not expecting baby to take spoonfuls in the beginning.  Well, he took many spoonfuls &…

Nervous Nelly

Baby is five months today! As such, it is the official start of the solid food eating era.  As I write, baby is having his usual course a la breastmilk. Afterwards, I will pump some milk to have it mixed with his organic baby oatmeal.  He had already had his vitamin d supplement & diaper changed pre-feeding, so that’s taken care of.  I am a tad bit nervous because today begins what I hope will…
