Infantile

I love motherhood. Outside Lands music festival is happening at Golden Gate Park & I can hear Sam Smith singing to his enthusiastic crowd.  Every year we go to OSL but this year we hang back with baby. The most highly attended OSL yet, our streets (& parking) are flooded with concert goers.  I quite enjoy & am amused by this shift in priorities. I love live music. I do not love shoulder to shoulder…

Photastic Annie

So proud of my girl Annie for starting law school on Monday! This girl is so amazing, I’m not sure she knows what she’s capable of yet.  This is the best combination: being on the brink of greatness builds humility while ambition stretched you.  And… This pho is like the Venus de milo gummy that Homer peeled off the babysitter’s butt. Simpsons fans, you know what I’m talking about.  A few things I learned about…

Cheese day

I turned 31 & it was awesome. An impromptu dim sum date with my mom, dad, brother, baby & Calmsy at King Wah turned into a theatrical experience. Lovely to be with my special ones & Calm got me beautiful yellow roses! Thanks pal. We’ve been friends a decade plus & I love you so. All the young’uns got there first so we had to bide our time before the knowing ones arrived to order…

Hey look, it’s Joe!

Welcome Joe for your short trip in San Francisco! So glad you’ve got a CLE so we can reconnect.  SF tried to put its best weather for our visitor. A late sundown, pink skies & a warm night laid the groundwork for a pleasant stop at Marnee Thai.   Joe looks chipper waiting for our food to come out. Amazing it’s been 5 years since law school. Now life is different & it’s better.  The…

Meat butter

The lovely Rhon Rhon took me to an excellent birthday dinner at Marlowe. The self-proclaimed “New American” cuisine is a host to small bites (of which we had many) & mains (in which we mainly shared). We started with the deviled egg with bacon & pickled jalapeño. A neat, surprising kick. Tiny but mighty! I love eggs!   Next, we had to try the brussel sprout chips. Lemon & sea salt elevate this simple way of…

Brother come home

Mikey is back & this time it’s with a vengeance! In a good way.  Baby is thrilled to have his fufu around. Eyeing him suspiciously, he could not resist the warmth of uncle’s cuddle as he succumbed to slumber…with one eye open.  We had at it at Tai Wu for dim sum. The buns are so cute.   Mini char siu baos, perfect for little hands. Except baby only eats the bun, no honey glazed…

Hot potato

The potato being my son. Because he has a fever.  It is National Sisters Day! Horray for my bold sister for living life large. Remember, you are so much more than you realize. Yes, you, who already thinks herself well. You are even more.  Ole Eggsy has been in cahoots with a fever since last night. Advice nurse warns us that fevers over 106F or fever with infant Tylenol for over 3 days is a…

Best day ever

I am continually impressed by the people around me. My dear friends, in what I thought was a causal outing, turned out to be an early birthday celebration for me!  We ate to our heart’s content at Limon in the Mission. The mixed ceviche was delicious & ordered four times for our party of eight girls. Excuse me, women.  The truffle mac & cheese and the queso empanadas were divine. I adore cheese.  We had…

Blank space

Here lies durian pastries from dim sum today. I love durian. Most people either love or hate it. Its pungent smell is off putting to many. Its delectable taste & texture is irresistible to some.  Our table are all durian eaters. Surprising. My sister & I had a theory that most females are durian lovers & most males are not. Of course, no science or mathematical evidence for this.  Moving on, we also had these…

Sweetness

We were so excited to have sister over this past weekend! Ordering our favorite takeout sushi, Yum Yum Fish fueled our little party.  My favorite roll is the creamy roll, a modified Philly roll with cream cheese, avo, cucumber & salmon on top. I top it with Unagi for the ultimate big bite.    We celebrated the coming of baby Jaxson! Congrats to the growing family!   Baby was so wonderfully celebrated. The earl grey…
