The big deal

Is it true?

Yes! It is! Eggsy is hereby 10 months old! How he has been growing on his first big trip away from home. He handled the flight wonderfully without a cry to be heard. He’s been growing like a little sprout too!   We do a lot of exploring to find baby-friendly places where he can unleash his curiosities. Our favorites include: the fabulous Seattle library with a ginormous children’s area, the Seattle Art Museum &…

Sweet Reunion

A lovely reunion with my dear Megsie! She is as stunning as ever.     Megsie introduced us to her bomb pho spot: Pho So 1. Far left sits Mr. Dahlia. He is beautiful too.  Naturally, I had the sampler platter. All delicious. One of the better meals I’ve had in Seattle yet.  When someone says this is their pho spot, that is a big deal. How perfect that in the same plaza, at HardWok…

Smity’s best

We’ve arrived to the land of flannel! We’re exploring the International district & beyond. Mostly we’re napping & eating.  The kid handled the flight like a champ. Didn’t cry once. Didn’t like to nurse during takeoff & landing so munched on cereal instead. (His ped recommended feeding to alleviate the change in air pressure.) On our first night, we found night dim sum & had a huge dessert waffle!  Seattlians mean business around here! Blueberries…

Pizza party

We’ve had some hot hot days by the bay recently. To keep up the heat, we had Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in North Beach.  The Cal Italia pizza was a table favorite. Also the gold medal food network challenge pizza champions winner. Fig preserves give the hint of sweetness that lifts ordinary pizzas into the realm of greatness. No sauce & Italian gorgonzola make for a very savory treat. I shared the inside of the soft…

Pumpkin pick

Baby visits his first pumpkin patch! At Grandpa Kevin’s pumpkin patch, baby got to see lots of friends (minions, Woody, Buzz, & more) while feasting his little eyes on pumpkins galore.  Honestly, Eggsy was mostly indifferent. It was very cold. I offered baby a selection of appropriately sized pumpkins & he had his pick.     He promptly dropped said pumpkin repeatedly until his pumpkin privileges were revoked.     Here we are hanging out with the…

Gratitude

Good life

Good progress in the life department. Finding new support in the motherhood unit & I am so glad. I’m thinking of ways to contribute as I am so grateful. Also Sushi Zen on Taraval is surprisedly great. Lazy summer roll. (Yes it was.)  Pasta at Olive Garden. Baby likey. I like how a lot of older people come here. It’s also good for babies. Spacious = stroller friendly.   Ice cream sundae NOT for baby.…

The little things

Winging it

There are many days of doubt for my decision to stay at home but today isn’t one of them.  As Eggsy lays out in all his 9 month glory, I am continually amazed at his expedited growth. I didn’t think I’d see him literally growing before my eyes but I do.  Staying home is not the easier choice. For our family, it’s the right one.    Thanks to Eggsy’s beautiful Aunty for always loving us. Baby…

Grillades

A trip to the Bayhill Center to explore Cafe Grillades. With hopes of crepes, we signed our 2.5 party to the list. A little over an hour later, we were finally seated and eating.  My New York crepe with grilled steak, carmelized onions, portobello mushrooms, roma tomatoes was a good pick. The crepe made of unbleached flour was thicker than what restaurants usually serve. I liked it. Eggsy liked bites of my food too.  …

Spicy fries

HBD TO TB! Thanks for being born so we could enjoy 4505.  Double cheeseburgers for the boys & a single for me. (I just had pho.) The burgers were delicious as usual but the real star? The spicy fries.  Aioli so good, we are determined to ask for this sauce on the burgers next time.    Frankaroni (left) is deep fried mac & cheese with hot dog in it. I had this before & didn’t even…

Marbles

I’ve done it now. I’ve done lost my marbles.  I sent HB to pick up food at the wrong place because I ordered at, uh, the wrong place. Kingdom of Dumpling is not King of Noodle.  I literally set something down for a second & forget what I was doing.  Baby brain, mom brain… I am a chronic sufferer of this condition.  Articles indicate that a new mother’s brain is rewired for the new duties…
